Who we are

The BSRA is a non-profit society with the mandate to improve Bastion Square by enhancing the visual appeal and overall quality of the public spaces within it. We oversee the Bastion Square Public Market which generates income for revitalization projects in the Square.

​The BSRA board then works with the membership & City of Victoria to develop and implement revitalization projects. Anyone who works, lives, owns property or a business in the district can become a general member of the BSRA and comment on revitalization projects.

​Projects

Our revitalization projects are designed to honour the square's rich heritage while improving its visual appeal and accessibility. Key improvements include repaving Commercial Alley with a brick-patterned, herringbone design that complements the existing heritage buildings. The Youth Empowerment Society Building now features a vibrant mural by artist Colin Elder, bringing fresh artistic energy to the area. Additionally, new, cohesive placenaming signage and upgraded lighting ensure that Bastion Square is inviting and accessible at night.
